96 Transport tranny problem
Well my wife has pulled a good one this time. While getting ready to pull out of the driveway she was nearly hit by a truck in her panic she threw the van in reverse and nailed the gas. Now her van has no reverse only a clicking sound. All forward gears seem fine at this point so I want to get into it before any other damage is done. Has anybody run into something like this to give me an idea what I'll be looking for
Thanks Greg |

Re: 96 Transport tranny problem
The reverse band broke off.
www.avigex.ca/xport/transmissionranges.jpg As you can see, this band relates to reverse only. I did something like that with my late '79 Ford Country Squire ...wanted to pull something heavy in reverse...shot the band. I drove the car like this for the rest of its life...just have to manage so if it needs to back off, it would be downhill.....

Range selector switch
Thanks for the reply I pulled it out this weekend and the inside and pan looks like a grenade went off in it. I lucked up and found a replacement in a local Pull-A-Part yard.new looking GM rebuilt unit in a van with a siezed engine. my only question now is how do I adjust the range selector switch
