Rattling in a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse

I drive a 2008 Eclipse, every once in a while there is a slight rattling noise coming from the front of the car...any ideas on what this could be?

A little more description could help... It could be a plastic guard/shield rattling, suspension, loose bolts, clamps vibrating on metal. There are way too many things it could be...

Is it when your hitting the brakes, during bumps, when accelerating, when sitting still, at a certain speed?

The more info we have, the better we can try to narrow down the problem.

Its random, it happens mostly when i accelerate, but also happens when im ideling, almost never when i brake though. Car runs fine, no check engine light, no weird smells. I think its more annoying than bad.

Sounds like something may just be loose under the hood and rattling against something on the motor. Have you checked for any loose bracket, hoses, etc?

If you have a 2.4l there is a TSB about the front heatshield rattling and an updated exhaust hanger. If you're out of warranty just have someone remove the heatshield that is under the oilpan. The newer 2.4l engines don't even have a heatshield under the oilpan so don't worry about removing it.
