5 - Speed Manual 2000 LS - V6
We have a 2000 five speed manual - V6 LS. As of 6/11/09 we have ~ 140,000 on the clock and it is still going strong. They would not put the 5 speed behind the V8 and if they did that is what we would have ordered. They said the clutch could not take it so I ask how the Mustang GT and Cobras handled it and did not get an answer.
So the question is - How many more are out there?

Re: 5 - Speed 2000 LS - V6
Obviously you are referring to a 5-speed manual transmission, but for future reference, the automatics were also 5-speeds.
I'm not sure on numbers, but the manual transmission LS's are pretty rare. I have never seen one, but would like to. I'm also not sure why they never dropped a manual into the V8s. As you stated, they do have them in Mustangs. -Rod |

Re: 5 - Speed 2000 LS - V6
Well tonight I was discussing this with others and they pointed out that the German Getrag 5 speed manual is an aluminum body transmission that is not known for its ability to take a lot of torque. So maybe the weak link is not the clutch. The V6 puts out 205 lbs/ft @ 4750 and the V8 is rated @ 267 lbs/ft @ 4300. Do not know why they chose this unit plus reverse is assbackwards as you moved it to you (left) and forward. We ordered the sport suspension package to get the 17 " wheels. It is a kick to drive
