Exhaust on 1997 1500 5.7L V8
I was lookin to get flowmaster or something like it on my truck. I have stock right now and I know almost nothing about the exhaust. I do a lot of driving on the interstate and fishing and towing a 17 foot boat. So I want to get something thats not very loud inside the truck and not aggrevating while on the hwy if there is a such thing!! Also can I run true duallies on my truck?? Should I?? How expensive is that?? They are recommending delta flow 40 series but I think that may be too loud. I want it to sound good and look good, but not wake up the neighbors at 4am when i am leaving to go fishing!! ANy suggestions??

Re: Exhaust on 1997 1500 5.7L V8
I have the 50 Series Truck and SUV Flowmaster muffler on my '96 Suburban. It sounds great and I've loved it. It's not too loud inside the vehicle, but it sounds real nice outside. Definently something to consider.

I've used Gibson Cat back systems and they are made to last. Good quality products and several options for most vehicles.

Re: Exhaust on 1997 1500 5.7L V8
ive used headman longtubes with 3 in out to 45 degree angle tips 4.5 in tips sounds nice not loud at all in truck. but sounds good when the windows are down. before that i had 1 flowmaster 50 and it didnt sound that good. but a different pipe setup would sound better with the flowmaster. in my oppinion if you wanted mufflers i would go true duals w/ headers in to supper 44 flowmasters at either 45 or 90 degeree tips. or the straight i did sounds good.

Re: Exhaust on 1997 1500 5.7L V8
I have a dual setup with flowmaster delta 40 mufflers straight out the back . installed on my 97 c1500 I also installed a set of flowtech shorty
headers ( direct bolt-up ) to stock flanges . a noticable power increase I also used the copper header gaskets at the heads . hope this helps |
