Camaro 1980 Frame

Hi guys, im in the process to byu a 1980 z28 camaro. Its a project car and there's a lot of work to do on the body, wich i dont mind but the problem is, the rear frame juste after the rear wheels is starting to rot. I wonder of much of work would it be to repaire it or to weld another rear frame. If i make the work done by a pro, how much am i looking at?

You will need a donor car here of course, different prices everywhere in the country, check with a local fabricator, rod shop, or quality body shop for an estimate.

There are lots of reproduction chassis floor and body sheet metal pieces available. The old sections are cut out and new pieces welded in.

Check with YearOne first, although a decent auto parts place near you may be able to get them for less money. Back when I had a Trans Am, my local auto parts store could get me all kinds of weld-in chassis parts, including new unit body frame rails and spring mounts. So looking around will should get you the right stuff.

Such cutting and welding is not for the beginner, so unless you have extensive welding experience, let a pro do it.

Or, if the body is really rough, look around for an entire decent body shell. It may be a cheaper and easier alternative in the long run.
