Clanking noise from rear end?
For some time now, I have been hearing this clanking noise that appears to be coming from under the vehicle. I only hear the noise when going over bumps at about 25mph or more, & it sounds like metal to metal contact!
Any ideas??? |

Re: Clanking noise from rear end?
Check your shock absorber rubber bushings at both ends using a pry bar to see if there's any play between mounting stud and rubber, check exhaust piping by moving it by hand (when cold), make sure it does'nt touch any part of the frame.

Re: Clanking noise from rear end?
I posted this in the other thread too:
My '02 started a bad clanking on bumps randomly one morning. On a hunch and based on how the sound was, I sat on the ground on the passenger side and kicked my shoe quickly against the side of the muffler a few times. That was over a year ago and no more noise. I'll bet the exhaust hangers had just shifted a bit. Sometimes the simple fixes work... |
