96 Chevy cuts out under acceleration

Hey guy's i have a 1996 chevy 1500 with the vortec 350. After driving for a couple of miles the truck starts cutting out really bad and popping out the exhaust while accelerating. If i don't let out of it, it will die. When you floor it it will only hit about 3,000 rpm's. It only does it when the engine is warmed up. The thing i've checked and changed are thottle position sensor, egr valve, fuel pressure, and MAF sensor.

thanks

Re: 96 Chevy cuts out under acceleration

Have you done basic tune-up items? Bad dist cap can cause awful running like that. Spark plugs and/or wires might also be culprit.

Also, I would try running lots (double the standard amount) of good fuel injector cleaner and see what happens.

Could also be fuel pump, I suspect.

Good luck.........

Re: 96 Chevy cuts out under acceleration

Forgot to mention a couple of other things i replaced. I put a New fuel filter on it, ignition control moduel, and new distributor cap and rotor. I already checked fuel pressure and it was ready ok. It will drive perfectly fine for a short distants, then starts running bad. If i shut it off and start it back up it will run fine again.

The ignition coil may be breaking down as the engine warms up . you may also need to verify that the crank sensor is in good working order . and the connections are good .
