side moldings 2002 silverado( update )

My 2002 sild moldings look like s__t my truck is the Z71off raod, it is 2 tone , its Pewter on the bottom and the fender flares, stormy gray on the top, I have heard of guys tapeing them off and painting them, My ?? is what color do I use?, there so faded I cant seem to see what color they was .
Anyone???

updater ok fond some paint that is made to match factory codes, going to clean and tape it off and paint,going to take alond time to tape off, but I want it to look right, truck going for hand painted pinstripes fri.

There is a paint code inside the glovebox,starting with a letter followed with 4 numbers and take that code with to any auto body supply place or any parts stores that sell the spray cans.

perhaps reflective tape or a colored tape,,,paint may be a problem with adhesion..

I spray my side moldings and chrome bumpers with silicone every month keeps them spiffy..

taped it all off tonight and sprayed it down, looks real good, back to the factory look.
you think GM would make them a little bit better, maybe there next owners will.
