01 grand caravan se battery drain

i have a 2001 dodge grand caravan se 3.8 thats pulling 1 amp drain from battery. Of course you know 1 or 2 nights the battery is dead. The IOD fuse is the only fuse that can be pulled and the drain stops. i read a lot about these fuses being used for shipping the cars that sit down for a while to prevent battery drain and its actually doing the opposite I read plenty post about people with the same year same problem, but haven't read one single solutions can anybody help All lights seems to be working fine. All windows, powerlocks etc. seems to be working can anyone help!!!!!!

Re: 01 grand caravan se battery drain

First, make sure you're waiting a good 30 minutes after disconnecting the battery to take your baseline amp reading. It takes time for modules/microprocessor circuits to go "to sleep".

I would think the IOD fuse circuit is about the worst circuit to find a drain on because so much is connected to it. You may save a little time by forking out around $100 at a dealership or well equipped shop and have them connect their specially programmed scanner and check for BCM specific codes. When I say "shop", find one that specialises in auto electrical systems. You and I can't read these codes with a generic scanner. If there is a code it may lead you in the right direction quicker. Maybe directly to the BCM. A pricey fix but, would save days of chasing this.

Could be something as simple as a corroded connection. First place I would look (barring any BCM codes) is the FCM to IPM connection under the hood. There are TSBs published about corroded contacts causing lighting issues. Usual culprits can be window, door lock actuators, door switches, powered sliding door modules etc. Just because components are working when full power is applied doesn't mean it can't be causing a drain when the circuit is off. If you don't have factory manuals I'd head to www.Alldata.com for schematics.
