Too much plastic 06!!!!

Wife wanted a Impala so we just picked up a 06 3.9L LS 40,000 miles. Only thing inside the damn car that is soft is the leather seats and the carpet. Everything is hard plastic....I can't stand it....even my 96 lumina had soft arm rest and a soft middle arm rest.....damn designers.....I hope this plastic holds up in the 150 degree temps that this car will see over the next 12 years...

I need to find some lick and stick pads to put on the arm rest while I drive it....lol

Even the middle console is hard....can't they put some more padding in this stuff.....gosh...

So it sounds like we have rear defrost issues, and maybe AC issues that I have seen on here? My friend mech at a Chevy dealer said he has seen a few newer impalas come in with blow head gaskets.....

Re: Too much plastic 06!!!!

I don't have a problem with my console/armrest myself. I don't much care for all the plastic too but what more can you expect GM hasn't exactly had the highest build quality interiors with top notch materials as of late save for some new offerings such as the new Malibu and CTS.

You're going to see even more plastics and composite materials in vehicles in order to meet newer CAFE standards. Vehicle manufacturers will have to find ways to decrease the vehicle's overall weight as part of meeting the higher fuel mileage requirements, and that is one way they plan to accomplish just that.
