Poor gas mileage and no power

When I take off from a stop the car hardly runs. I have to rev it continually to get it to go anywhere. The idle is very rough if it idles at all. I have replaced the plugs, wires, and the TPS. I think I messed the TPS up when I installed it by turning it to far. I'm only getting about 14 miles to the gallon. My engine is also back firing when I give it gas. It acts as if it's getting to much gas and flooding.

Please help.

Re: Poor gas mileage and no power

i had a issue which sounds very similar, pull your plugs and look at them you may have carbon tracks on em, meaning the electrical charge went around the plug and grounded to the head... instead of firing. its pretty common on my car especially after you wash under the hood and water gets down in the plug holes.

Re: Poor gas mileage and no power

what seems to be the fix for this? Mine does it all the time. When I crank it up I have to pat the gas to get it to catch on and start going. I can literally watch the gas hand go down.
