can you raise redline?
what parts do you need to replace to raise it? and how do you know what your new limit is? a friend of mine tells me his limit is now 9500, but how the hell does he know that?

Are you trying to blow your engine? Try a chip change.

im not going to do it with my current motor, im going to wait until i get a new one. what parts can be replaced that would allow to go over the stock redline? as in, increasing power past the stock redline. and i will be getting a chip too. the shifronic gets rid of speed and rev limits.

mostly head work. the bottom end can spin a bit more than the head will allow

chips are useless and you will gain more hp out of a properly tuned stock engine with good ignition and a simple i/h/e set up. all that chip will do is spike your fuel curves and modify timing, and not always in a good way or a way that your stock systems can actually keep pace with.
If you are going for power at the expense of any reasonable mileage, then TC, otherwise, port/polish or extrude hone upstairs, replace the valve train and cams, gears, all bolts, gaskets, rods, pins, rings, balance your crank, move to dry sump, increase fuel system efficiency (not necessarily increase flow) and get a stand alone like the AEM EMS or a Hondata unit. And your buddies claim of a 9500rpm limit is BS (well, maybe not the limit, but any ability his car has to get there). Get him to spool up to that in his driveway and get ready for the fireworks... I can guarantee you this, if later down the road, you do start doing some major power upgrades like TC or well managed nitrous, the first thing to go will be that chip. save your cash, do it right. jm2c

ok thanks for all the info. and about the chip, i wasnt going to get one for performance. i was thinking about getting the level10 shiftronic, which i believe also gets rid of the speed and rev limits. ive already decided against those supposed "performance" chips that, like you said, only change the fuel curve and force me to pay up for high octane gas.
as for my friend with the 9500 redline, i believe him still, he knows what he's doing. he's got all kinds of aftermarket shit and he does all the work himself. he actually took me for a ride yesterday after he finished his most recent project, and i was watching as he shifted, well over stock redline. he now has a b20c5, and i gotta say... i think it was a little faster than my f22 with a/t

what are you trying to is change a crank shaft, crank shaft the one limite the red line, because when the rpm pass the red line, crankshaft will vibration so much, you will blow you engine easily. but not many company will build a strong crank shaft for you, plus they are expensive.

uhhhh..... or not. This is not the case with mostly ALL modern engines. anyways, in the case of accord engines, the bottom end can't really take much more rpm than the stock rev limiter, the valve springs should be stiff enough to handle upwards of 8krpm before "float" but what makes up most of the the accords 2.2 liters of displacement is "stroke" which doesnt mesh well with high rpm. I'd say you should be okay to go to 7000-7200 on a daily basis and be ok, but not too much higher than that, the bottom end just cant spin that fast with out breakin shithondaman that was a stupid statement! |

chill out norcal, geez, its just a thread, not like someone is insulting you or anything. maybe your having abad day or whatever but try to calm down. you haven't given any hard facts either. All we can do is speculate untill someone has actually tried increasing there redline to 7k.

your right, sorry about the negativity man. Now i know that i dont know everything, but i just get pissed off when people post stuff in forums that is total BS
especially when they have the english speaking ability of a four year old. as for the redline thing, it really depends on the engine, The important thing is "why".... why raise your redline to 7k. stock that engine makes peak hp at 5800, so with a few bolt ons your probly at about 6000 to 6200, and the rev limiter is at 6600 so you should be good to go.... damn i need an H22!

Why? If you rev it higher, you can drop it into the HP peak when you shift. The funniest thing I've seen is my friend's Mustang that redlines before 5000. Damn...

You'll need either to change your computer out, or have no rev limiter stock.....then you'll need a great deal of top end work, and depending you'll need a good deal of bottom end too. For a small jump, just stronger valve springs and a small amount of other fortification should do it.
