brakes again.

anyone use brakes from autozone, or advanced auto? i changed them about 45000 ago and turned the rotors, put napas best pads on and now i need brakes again. the rotors were turned last time but they said that was it on turning them so i will need new rotors as well. should i get good napa ones or just go to advanced and get the "lifetime" warranty stuff? i do alot of driving, about 100 miles a day back and forth to work, so i put a lot of miles on.

Bought pads at autozone.

My 99 Rodeo LSE came with 4 disc brakes, 6 cyl.

At 60K my OEM were squealing so I took them out. Must have been dust. Only wore down to about 1/2 but decided to change them out anyway. I put in Duralast Gold Ceramic up front and Duralast Gold Semi-Metallic in the rear. I didn't have to turn the rotors either. They were smooth.

I have 99.5K miles on now and I decided to check brake pads today which I am way overdue since I usually check every 20K.

The Duralast fronts were 1/2 gone and the the Duralast rears were almost down to nothing (near metal indicator).

I went and bought the same Duralast set for the fronts and backs. Two cans of brake lube and cleaner, front set, and rear set set me back 78 dollars.

39.5K miles wore down most of the rear and 1/2 worn on the front. The rotors were actually smooth so I didn't need to turn them.

I am not an aggressive driver and I don't brake into hard stops. I feel like I got what I expected from the rear and I was pleasantly surprised that the fronts were only half worn (ceramic).

If you do the 100 miles day and it's stop and go for you, I would suggest getting the OEM pads (all ceramic) or ceramic aftermarkets.

By the way, for your rotors, look into the ceramic composites too.

They'll last longer.

i usually buy my parts at napa. They have ceraminc pads and i can get them for around $45, honda wants almost $90. the rotors, i am not sure, they have cheap china ones, which i will not buy and then the good ones, for around $70 each. I know the dealer wants $175 for the rotors. The last time i had them turned they said they could not be turned any more and i am getting some pulsing from the rear. I thought the front would wear out before the back,,,it that because the fronts are ceramic and the rears are not?

Yes, ceramics last 2-3 times longer. My rear pads were not ceramic, so they wore out faster than the fronts.

Rotors can't be turned more than a couple of times because then they get thin and warp due to heat.

FYI I'm no expert. This is mere experience from past cars and current rodeo.

Ya know, I have about 1/4 left on my front pads and about 10k miles ago I had to change the rears. The car has 126k miles on it so I am very pleased yet surprised with the current breaks.

I haven't found any pads, ceramic or not, that lasted anywhere near as long as the OEM pads. My rears also seem to wear faster than the front. I have been using ceramics from Pep Boys, I think. Although I have new rotors ready to go up front (I have a little pulsing), I couldn't free up a couple of bolts and left them on last pad change.
