'08 g6 gt?

hi all, as you can see...I'm a Grand Prix guy. havent been in this part of the forums just yet.

reason I'm here...my GF is looking at G6's and she has her mind set on buying one. we test drove a 2008 GT with 34K on it. car felt pretty solid. didnt have as much power as the grand prix of course...but we know how girls are...they dont buy em' for the power

test drove a GTP...but we wernt real impressed for the extra money.

anyways...just wondering how these cars are? any "common" problems with them? if I'm not mistaking...the GT's have the 3500 V6? how are these motors??

any input is appreciated. thanks again

Re: '08 g6 gt?

I'll be honest with you they are very good cars with very few issues with them. The 08's+ are the best years since most of the bugs have been worked out of them. The 3500VVT ( 3.5L) engine is based off the 3.4L engine and puts out about 200HP. These engines so far don't suffer from the leaky LIM gaskets like the 3.4's or the 2005-2006 G6's with the 3.5L ( a different engine non VVT) The GTP's have a few options that are standard versus them being an option GT's and they have more HP. At most the only issue that may happen is a clunk in the steering ( if it's an early model 08) but the dealers have a TSB on how to correct that.

Good luck if she decides to purchase, I think she'll be happy with it, ( I know i was)

Re: '08 g6 gt?

OH yeah I forgot to add, it probably has the crappy stock rotors on the car with the infamous rotor warping. Since you seem to be a pontiac guy you should know what i'm talking about... just get different rotors and you should be fine. OH and if the car has the Chrome Clad rims, just watch out on potholes they bend easily!

haha, yeah definatly. we all know GM never could make rotors

thanks a bunch for the input. the guy at the dealership told me that the 3500 was the replacement for the 3400 but i take their advice with a "pinch of salt" you know how that goes

I'll let you guys know how it goes. she really wants a GXP, but i told her to be realistic and look at something she can afford.

thanks a bunch for your input.
