Starter??

This seems to be the week of problems. Went to start the rodeo this morning and click, nothing. Tried again and click. ckick. It started about 5 try's later. Could this be the starter failing? I replaced the battery last month so it can't be that.
Any hidden issues on takeing the starter out and replacing it? Easy or difficult to get to??
Thanks for the help...

Re: Starter??

If your Rodeo happens to be 2wd, it's fairly easy. If it's 4wd it's a little more involved. You either have to take the motor mounts loose and lift the engine a bit or remove the exhaust 'Y' pipe to get the starter out.

The problem you are having is a very common one with Denso starters. The solenoid contacts wear out unevenly and one is thinner than the other. This is the reason for the intermittent failure. You can buy a solenoid repair kit for less than $20 at Schucks but you still have to go through removing and re-installing the starter.

Re: Starter??

it's a 4x, Shoot, I was hoping it would a quick sawp out. I wounder if the car engineers and designers ever work on cars themselves to see how ridiculous some of the access points are...
Thanks for the info...
