2002 civic hood latch won't release
The interior latch does not release the hood (cable is fully extended without return), and I'm thinking the bumper cover has to come off to gain access to the lock assembly. Just wondering if there is a better idea out there?
(Thought I was doing a quick oil change...)

Re: 2002 civic hood latch won't release
You will most likely need to replace the cable. It is pretty involved. I have the procedure from the manual if you would like it. PM with an E-mail address and I can send it to you.

Thanks, I have the manual, and will likely replace the cable, but I can't open the hood?

Re: 2002 civic hood latch won't release
I took a look at my 05 and it looks tough to access. (like everthing else on the car)
You could take the release assembly loose and see if it broke inside near it or outsde at the latch. If it is near the release you may be able to get to the cables wire and release it. If outside... I can't say. |
