Outer "tie rod" end thread size?
Anyone know the thread size?
I am having new couplers made to match my new manual rack, and i need to get the thread size to the machine shop. I assume the GTS and GTWC are the same but thought i remembered the RA's being smaller? it is reverse threaded and I think 5/8" and a fairly fine thread.

Re: Outer "tie rod" end thread size?
The RA's and WC's are different. Ford went from English (standard) rack tie rods to metric. The WC's used the mustang cobra racks of late 90's. I believe the thread pitch is 1.5. The RA's are 7/16 24 I believe. This is from memory as I had to change my RA rack and found the 04 cobra rack wouldn't work because of the rod end threads as well as the input connection also being different. Be careful because the 24 and 1.5 metric pitches are so close you can force it with bad results (don't ask). I don't know about the outer tie rod threads as I didn't go there. Seems to me they have to be the same as the adjuster nuts would likely be the same. Wish my memory was better so I could be more sure of the different threads involved. Best to check it with a pitch gauge.
