98 Jimmy heater problem, noise behind glove box

Ok, heres the situation. I noticed last winter that my heater wasn't blowing out as hot as I thought it should. About 2 months ago I noticed a sound behind the glove box, like the sound of a motor turning and grinding at some point in it's circular pattern it hits on something. About 2 weeks ago I went to use the air for the first time and it was blowing out hotter air than it did during the winter (not good on a 80 degree day). Has anybody ever run into this before I sink a ton trying to find it, or does anyone know how and what to fix?
Thank you
Neil

2 seperate issues.

1) Replace the blower motor and this will get rid of the noise
2) The freon in your a/c is probably gone...or maybe something else in the a/c system is at fault (fuse/relay etc)

It could be multiple issues as the other guy said, but it is most likely the blend door motor. It is located behind the glove box and operates the door that switches between hot and cold. They are known for the gear to strip/break which causes a grinding noise and does not allow them to function properly. You can find information about this problem, and how to tell if it is what's causing your issues in the "How-to/Technical Info" forum. As always, don't replace anything until everything has been properly diagnosed.

It was the blend door motor, thank sfor the info and the link to how to address it. If anyone has this problem, hen you get to it, remember, the front 2 anr screews, but one you get them off, the last one is just a pin it slides off of. Thank you very much for the help, it saved me a lot of time and money
