Oil Adapter Lines
99 blazer, 4.3, 4wd, 156k miles
I have an oil leak and it seems to be coming from the oil lines/adapter (on the block) connecting to the filter assembly under the front access panel. I have cleaned them a few times and it looks like the lines are leaking at the adapter. I am also getting oil on the bell housing and on the oil pan as well so i am hoping the oil lines are the cause and therefore an easy/cheap fix. I am hoping this is not a rear main seal or a pan gasket gone bad! My question is if anyone has a few good pointers for the oil line replacement? I know there has to be a few tricks to do this that would make this smoother because access is limited from underneath. thanks for the help

If it is the oil line leaking.
Dorman makes so good replacement line. But always make sure it is the oil line leaking and not the coupler o ring or filter. Clean it off and look and see where it is leaking for sure. Good luck

A little late for a reply, but... I've replaced these lines 3 times now on my 1999 Blazer (155,000 miles) 4WD with Dorman. The aluminum crimped ends are a poor design and will eventually leak. Why am I posting this now? Because I was putting ring clamps on all eight connections tonight to try to stop the leak and it didn't work worth a darn. I still had a continuous drip from 3-4 of the lines. I was searching for a post where someone said to tap the holes and put hose fittings on the connections. Then use some hydraulic/oil lines with ring clamps. The Dorman replacements only lasted 3 months to 1 year.

The Dorman replacement is holding up fine so far, and no leaks out of the filter to block line yet. (probably just jinx myself)

Cut the aluminum lines at the crimp connections, install 1/2" compression to -8 hydraulic line adapters and use -8 hydraulic line or 1/2" AC line. they'll NEVER leak again! Been there and done that.

It was the oil adapter gasket and the oil line gasket, the oil lines were good. thanks for all the advice, when they go (and they will) i may do the more advanced repair. Now on to the oil pan gasket...any advice on that one???
