Cool Low Tire Pressure Light

The low tire pressure warning light keeps coming on in my 2000 Impala LS, even when the tires are checked at the dealership. They reset it and two days later it comes back on again.

Mind you they charge me a fee everytime it happens and it's getting pretty old, Can anyone tell me how to reset this or disable it completely.

Thanks Legotech7...................

Re: Low Tire Pressure Light

I`ve heard about this, don`t know for sure, but it`s worked for a few others,

"turn the ignition to accessories and turn the interior light switch on and off three times. That should reset it."

Re: Low Tire Pressure Light

Buy yourself a tire pressure gauge. You might have a slow leak in a tire. Going to a dealership for a problem like this is a rip off. Your owners manual tells how to reset the tire pressure light using the stock radio.
If you do not have the stock radio, or want to try a different way, do this: Turn the ignition on ( I forget if the car needs to be running or not, but I think not). Push the headlight switch all the way forward, then pull out all the way. Do this 3 times within 5 seconds, but don't rush it. Your low tire pressure light should reset.

Question Re: Low Tire Pressure Light

The Impala uses the ABS system to monitor your tire pressure . It does this by comparing the revolutions of each tire . If you have a tire that is lower in pressure than the other three tires , it senses the difference in the speed of that particular tire compared to the other three tires and turns the " low tire pressure light " on . That tire , that is lower in pressure , will ( in effect ) have a smaller diameter than the other tires and will trigger the dash light to come on . To turn the light off , quickly pull the headlight switch out to the first position three times and the light will go off . I learned this from first hand experience on my 2000 Impala !
