G6 GT 07'-08' radio swap

Hey guys,

Ok so I have a 2007 G6 Gt convertible, which I love. However, I am very envious of the new 08'-09' radio because is has the auxiliary plug for the mp3 player. Now I called the dealership asking if it was possible to swap the radio out for the newer model. Well I was told that this could not be done because my 07' computer could not handle the 08'-09' radio !

Now how true is this? And if very true, is there a way to override it?

It's BS!! They can do the swap since i know several people who have done it already. the only thing that needs to be done is the computer needs to be reprogrammed to match up with the radio but otherwise it has and can be done!!!

I THOUGHT SO!!!!!! I wonder how I can go about getting this done. I will try another dealership. Thanks oodles grfnkl, ur responses are the best!


One more thing, can you let me know if your friends got it done at the dealer or just ordered the radio and went somewhere else?

No problem! for the radio, some installed it themselves then brought it in and got the computer updated with the new radio. Others had the dealership do it for them... and if i recall correctly their are one or two that convinced the dealer to swap it out as a warranty repair ( but i think they had inside connections) I'll be sending a PM your way in a moment.
