HELP: Need to replace the fire bottle... not having much luck
I'm having a very hard time finding a replacement fire bottle... mine is ruston on top and it had no pressure. I don't want to replace the system, just a new bottle. My father took it to CVProducts south of Greensboro, NC and they wouldn't refill it and said they couldn't replace it. I get the feeling they want to sell use a new fire system.

Actually I tested it one day and found the cable was broken inside the outer sleeve. Seems like some had given it a good; at some stage. That sealed it it for me.........

Re: HELP: Need to replace the fire bottle... not having much luck
I'll have to see if NASA allows a fire bottle only... good idea though. Turns out CV Products sells a full system for $300. We'll probably get that, an analog tach, and a lexan windshield and install that next weekend.

Re: HELP: Need to replace the fire bottle... not having much luck
honestly, by the time you find someone to sell just the bottle, then refill it, you could get a new one -

Re: HELP: Need to replace the fire bottle... not having much luck
My mechanic took my fire bottle out and had it filled and put it back in the car. Passed NASA and HSR inspection. I know you can get the bottle refilled. We did here in Georgia. Let me know and I will get my mechanic to email you and tell you what he did.

Re: HELP: Need to replace the fire bottle... not having much luck
I took mine out last year and had a local fire protection company refill it. The company dealt with fume hood fire systems for labs and such. They didn't have the original halon in stock (1205???), but refilled it with 1211. They charged almost $200 for the refill. Come to find out that my valve leaked, and the bottle drained in a weeks time. I'm going to replace it with a new system in the near term.
I tried to get the original company (someone in the UK) to refil it, and struck out. They no longer refill bottles as old as mine. I contacted Fire Bottle and they said the same thing. They can't fill a bottle this old either. Damn. Looks like it time to go buy the new one. Gonna check out CV Products right now.
