96 Windstar ignition switch Rod
Hi all, I have a tough one. My ignition switch rotates as if the switch is not there. I removed the ignition switch and I believe the rod between the ignition switch and the key is broken. Anyone out there have this problem? Thanks in advance.

I have the same exact problem, so yeah, this sucks. help!!!!!!! I've found a tutorial with pictures for this fix before but it was for a bronco. Anyone know how to do it for a windstar???? Sorry Bob I'm about where you are at with it. I'll let you know if I find a tutorial for it or something.

Re: 96 Windstar ignition switch Rod
oh, one thing I do know is it is most likely the end connector from what i have learned. They break more often than the rod they are attached to I'm pretty sure.

Re: 96 Windstar ignition switch Rod
I fixed it!!!! Because of the tilt steering, the linkage between the ignition switch and the lock cylinder is in two pieces. One part has a slot in it and the other has a metal post that fits in the slot. The metal post came out. It took several times getting it put together to get it aligned and working properly.
