Rear Window Washer Pours Inside Van

I have an '02 Sil. Premiere with 105K mi. The rear wiper seems to be fine, but when I activate the washer the fluid runs down the hatch inside the van.

I'm fairly handy but almost no electrical experience. Can you suggest things to check?

I'm not sure if it's related, but the back lighting is out on a few of the control switches ..

The rear AC blows HOT air

The DVD player doesn't work properly.

Thanks!

Welcome to AF !
Sounds like the hose going to the rear washer may either be leaking or may have become disconnected at the back of the van at the nozzle. I've never taken one of these apart but I know the hose is routed between the roof and headliner. Not sure if you have to remove part of the headliner to gain access, but I would check the connection at the nozzle in the back first. I think if there is a leak the washer fluid may have damaged the back lighting.
One possibility for your rear AC to be blowing hot is there may be a leak in your AC lines to the back of your van. I had the same problem with my Venture van around the same timeframe you are experiencing yours. If you live in an area that uses salt in the winter, your chances of the lines rusting out are greater.

Thanks for the help. I wish they sold a service manual for these. I'll check the hose connection for the washer leak.

I'm not sure how I'd track down the AC leak...a mechanic said he found and fixed one two summers ago (took it in for charging) ... but this spring it needed to be charged again. (I did it myself). But that does seem to indicate a leak in the system.

But with it fully charged the front AC is fine, the back is hot. You still think it could be a leak?

They do sell Factory Service Manuals for these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...3A1|240%3A1318

My leak was so bad, that when you added refrigerant to the system, it would work for a day then get hot. The cost of repairs to the system were too expensive for me at the time so I never repaired it. The vehicle was about 7 years old at the time.
Here is another , less expensive alternative to the factory service manual: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevr...3A1|240%3A1318

Re: Rear Window Washer Pours Inside Van

the rear washer hose runs from the front dash down with the wires in the floorboard passengerside, under the power side door ,under the power side door motor through the jack storage compartment then goes up the rear post through the right rubber hose that goes to the rear hatch. you might can take the third brake light out and see what the hose is doing .its a black hose 1/4" round .the spray nozzle is to the right of the third brake light. the panel pops off the rear hatch pretty much as the other panels. if the clips look rough then put some new ones in before you pop the panel back on.

Assuming these vans(Chev.,Olds, Pont,) are all the same, I wonder when they switched the location of the washer hose routing? On my '97 it ran up the passenger side pillar next to the windshield then along the roof to the back of the van . The hose then exited the van and entered the rear hatch where it ended at the washer nozzle. The OP's van is 5 years newer, I wonder when the design was changed?

Re: Rear Window Washer Pours Inside Van

mine is a '99 ,don't know if they changed the route in '98 or did it in '99 .but it does run in the floor. and one other thing i noticed is that the vacumn line below the glove box runs to the post between the front door and power sliding door and up it.i was just wondering if the access through the third brake light would let the hose be put back using a long pair of needle nose pliers.worth a try
