Question 1998 chevy blazer

Hi guys, im new to this forum,
my brothers fiend has a 1998 chevy blazer that I could buy off him for about 500$, it has a new transmission, and is in a good condition, the only thing is that i have to make a quick decision, i have to decide in the next few days, now i wanted to ask if you guys think its a good deal and if i could do anything wrong with buying that car. I havent looked at it yet, but im going to go look at it tomorrow.
Also i wanted to know how much gasoline blazers use.
thanks for answers...

Re: 1998 chevy blazer

If it fires and drives, I'll pay $500 for it (only because I've had one for 4 years, and know my way pretty well around mine, and what faults they have).

How long has the transmission been in it? Is the check engine light now on, BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH SOLENOID??? One circuit that this switch controls is circuit 1020, which controls tranny function. If so, and the tranny is in limp mode because of that, tranny hydraulic fluid pressure goes to the max, and the new tranny could well be toast.

Many S-vehicle's owners got ripped off for a tranny rebuild cause of this TSB fault...

Re: 1998 chevy blazer

For $500 you can't really go wrong, especially for a 98. Even if you have to put another $500 into in the next year, I think it would be worth it. I think Blazers get around 13-20 MPG.

As long as it isn't a pile of rust, it's worth it. Think about it... what's a car payment on a new car(can be $500/month!)? Since recently rolling 200,000 on my 98 blazer I realized that I've been beyond happy with it for almost 10 years! This forum will help you through the stadard quirks they have, but it's worth it.

Run it.

If I were you, I'd pass on this deal.

By the way, how 'bout you PM me your brother's friend's phone number?

Re: 1998 chevy blazer

Some days I miss my old 98. All in all it was a solid truck. As for the gas - it'll use every drop you put into it.
