Any Kiwi's out there

Hi
Been looking over this site for a while and have noticed a few New Zealanders around but with older posts. Any Kiwi's still here? If so I'd love to get in touch, mostly to find out where you get supplies from and what type.

Cheers

Kiwi in NZ here! Bought a few kits off ebay...trademe etc. Have purchased a bit from HLJ and have never had problems! But I am keen on trying some other sites.

Re: Any Kiwi's out there

I'm in NZ as well, but don't do much shopping here.....

TradeMe is good for kits - a lot of people don't know the value of what they are selling.

ModelAir in Newmarket is the best of the local shops.
DiecastHobbies (or something like that) on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula has a great range of Renaissance / Studio27 decals
Modelcrafts and Hobbies in Wellington is also very good.
Trevor Bringans (the Tamiya Distributor) has an outlet shop in Manukau which has a good range...

...but I still tend to buy most stuff overseas at the usual places....

MediaMix, Rainbow10, HobbyEasy, HiroBoy, HLJ, & HobbySearch.....

Another Kiwi here from the deep south of Invercargill

Brought most of my models off hlj.com when the exchange rate was good (starting to look better again now) Also look at Trademe for bargain's also.

Get some supplies from www.acornmodels.co.nz in ChCh.

I've been searching for Gunzo Markers but can't track them down can you guys source them in Auckland?

Haven't posted any finsihed work on this site just really learning at the moment

Another kiwi here, from the good old Naki. I normally get my kits from hlj and just get my paints from the local toyworld. As the rest have said Trademe is good for kits and suppies.

Wow, there is a few of us, great. Don't you guys think the NZ selection of supplies is a little lacking? I mean, as far as I know you get much in the way of photo etch here. Speaking of which, do you guys use PE seatbelt hardware? I've never done any belts but I want to start just don't know a good place to look and a good brand to get. Also flocking, where the flock do you get flocking from?

Re: Any Kiwi's out there

I guess I am fairly new into get more detailed stuff. I bought my flocking from 'the parts box' in australia, but didn't find it that great. Haven't gotten seat belts yet but I am keen to know what luck you have.

I only buy my paints from model crafts and hobbies, and maybe replacement blades etc The rest of my models I get online, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of detailing accessories over here which is a bummer.

The missus has joked that if we ever win a big Lotto that I should start up a model shop, not a bad idea to be able bring in PE, decals, etc for us Kiwi builders.

As a point of interest. What do you guys use as a clear coat over acylic, or any other paint?

Re: Any Kiwi's out there

Hi, I live in Auckland. I buy my kits on Trademe and HLJ mostly. I shop at ModelAir in Newmarket and Frankton Model Shop in Hamilton.

I have also used Hobbysearch, Ebay, HobbyHQ, AceHobby and Hobbyeasy with good results.

I won't be too inclined to use Luckymodel as things go missing in the post or mysteriously become out of stock after you order things, but I've never been put out of pocket by them. Good for Gunze Mr. Color lacquer paints though!

HLJ is good for things like PE and Decals. I use the others for the harder to find items.

Carey.
