Pull the trigger for a 03 burb

Looking for some advice to pull the trigger!...lol

Looking at a 03 suburban to purchase....65,000 miles 5.3L

My thoughts are it's a bit over kill to buy a SUV....but they are only a crew cab truck with a hard top? I have a ski boat and a few snowmobiles so maybe it is a good purchase. I have 2 kids so its more than enough room for them...Maybe something smaller like the Tahoe would be better....I really don't need a 8 passenger vehicle...Boy it would be nice to have the room.....I read some where that the burbs can hold more than a full size truck other than the height problem with the burb....

I have a 94 3/4 ton truck for trade...454 engine....9mpg....so the burb will get 12mpg?

Re: Pull the trigger for a 03 burb

Burbs are great vehicles! very reliable and what a ride! Room. oh they've got room and then some. And safe. There's not much else on the road, unless you r talking semi's, that you have to worry about when they hit you.

The 5.3 liter v8 is a strong engine. If you are pulling your toys... you won't even know they're behind you.

Depending on how you drive the burb should get around 12 city/17 highway if its a 1/2ton 2wd with the non flex engine.

if its the flex engine 13 city/17 highway

the 4wd 1/2ton is about the same. hope this helps

I just bought an 03 2WD Burban LT with 65K on it. Great truck, smooth ride great power from the 5.3L. Drives like a Caddy. You should be able to find a sub 75K truck for around 12-14K loaded. Chef recommends

Not really trying to "steal" this thread, but is that newer 5.3 liter V8 Suburban engine better or towing (a horse trailer) than the 1994 model 5.7 liter V8? I might be going more modern soon, and want to know how those two engines compare, as "obviously" the 5.3 is smaller. Has the technology improved where the 5.3 produces more power than the '94 5.7 ???
