'97 cav 2.2 stalling

My '97 cav has started stalling, usually under very light throttle. When idiling, (in gear, foot on brake), turning the steering wheel to either side will stall the motor. I've removed, cleaned and adjusted the Idle Air Solenoid and bore that it seats in, but nothing. What is supposed to maintain the idle speed?

Also noticed that disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes seems to help the performance for a short time.

Could anyone offer any advice?
Thanks,

Re: '97 cav 2.2 stalling

The IAC is all that is used to hold a steady idle speed. I believe there is also a power steering pressure switch that makes the PCM increase the idle when the pressure increases in the line, which counters the extra load of the P/S pump. Not every vehicle has one, but most do, I'm not 100% sure if the Cavaliers have one or not. Check to see if it loses spark or fuel when it dies.
