99 caravan belt tracking to inside

have a 99 dodge caravan... had pwr steering pump replaced and they said had to replace pulley ..... belt started tracking to inside of tensioner... removed and replaced tensioner and pwr sterring pump unit again and still tracked to inside... have removed and tried different things. finally put a spacer behind unit where power steering had bolt that fits into bracket off of the block and got belt moved over about 3/16 inch i guess my question is do i need a longer shaft on pwr steering unit or can pulley be pressed on a shorter distance??? the belt is not riding off of the tensioner but. is only on probably 1/32 of an inch... tks

Re: 99 dodge caravan

Yes I appear to be having the same problem. Did you find a solution? Thanks.

Re: 99 dodge caravan

Based on the dates and looking at his history, Shadetreeric may not be around anymore. His last post was June 09. All I can suggest is to use an OEM pump.
