Exclamation need help urgently on a 95 sonoma with a 99 2.2 engine

so i bought a sonoma yesterday that needed work, its got a 99 2.2 engine in there, came with a 2.2 itself. the 99 2.2 has two sensors on the passengers side, one is the knock sensor and the other is the crank sensor i think, the one more towards the front (crank sensor i think) is hooked up to the coil, the knock sensor more towards the back of the truck, is not hooked up, i guess the 95 2.2 does not have one of those and the 99 does. now the engine starts, but runs weird, it shakes bad, sounds like a misfire. also does not perform good at all, the truck is a 5 speed and hardly wants to move with no power at all. what could be wrong, i have just checked another 95 2.2 and it does not have the knock sensor period. how can i still use this 99 2.2 engine.. can i buy pass something, i though all 2.2s were the same..thanks

The basic mechanicals are probably the same but the electronics are most likely different. Could be a sensor that reads differently in the 99 motor than the original 95 morot. If possible, swap the 95 sensors onto the 99 motor and see what happens.
