Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

i have a couple of ideas for the colors
a blue like this

and an orange like this

yea i know there both General Motor colors but thats what i have a work (aka Saturn..... GM off brand)
then to split the colors a pin stripe of ultra silver, which is a really sparkly silver....sorry its a crappy pic

with the pin stripe i'm using the smaller stripe of the two and it's not just going on there in a straight line i'm going to try to do a little tribalistic???? design
so what do you all think about this
thanks mike

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

on the engine i am kidding, but just think a nascar engine in an actual street legal car, you wouldn't have much competition in most street races, but it was a joke...that engine is for the project i'm doing for my dad... i thought you all would get a kick out of those engine pics

body mody almost complete this is the rough without putty look, will be doing putty maybe tonight or tomorrow night, btw the fat can i made is a huge fat can... but here's the pics... hope you guys like it

rims are from a soarer kit i got a little while ago

now with putty, just waiting for it to dry so i can sand and shape it

the fat can

how it's going to look on the teg

i finally have about 25% done on the widebody so far it is quite a pain in the a$$ but i'm starting to see the end in sight and i think its looking good so far what do you guys think?

still have to sand the right side done all the way

the final sanding on the drivers side, and i'm thinking of boxing the side skirt a bit

i would show the pass. side but i f*cked it up and i was using my faster of the 2 dremels i have and melted a couple spots in the styrene and so i have to putty it again and resand it, but it will hopefully look good.
here the engine bay with the blue that is going on the interior

Do you have a pic of what wide body you are trying to replicate? The soarer wheels will look good on it. Also i don't know what kind of putty your using, but if i was you i would use two part epoxy as you will have a hell of a lot less sanding to do. As it seems like a nightmare sanding it? Also i would've painted the wires in the engine bay black, but thats my opinion. Good work thus far, don't get discouraged if not a lot of people respond. Keep it coming.

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

well i dont know of any widebody i'm trying to replicate, it's merely straight out of my head... i know this will sound weird but i'm letting the build take me where it wants to go. thats pretty much what i do with most of my builds unless i have a certain car i'm replicating like the initial d cars that i'm planing on doing i have already done the white fc rx-7 and i just picked up the ae86 trueno and levin , mr2 and sil80 just haven't got to them yet... on the putty i was using a two part... i just suck at it and this was the first time using it i used to use the crappy testors contour putty (which sucks to do body kits) but thanks for the help! you'll understand why the wire are blue a little later on it all has to do with the paint scheme

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

ere is a couple of pics of something i've been thinking of doing to the teg... kinda along the lines of the front fender of the newer mitsubishis... i just dont know if i want to do it to such a good loking car or not what do you guys think?
http://img2.netcarshow.com/Mitsubish...llpaper_02.jpg
http://mmna.cachefly.net/MMNA/eclips...ex_5.en-us.jpg
here's the teg

little update not too much progress just changed the way the hood is going to look
just cut it open

still waiting for it to flex and stay in that position and waiting for the glue on the front piece to dry... to support the bend then i can add the side strips

the window trim is done at least it has been just now took pics of it though

preview of the with the glass in

and thats more thinking out of the box 8)

looks pretty good dont you think? but just imagine a k20 possibly with a turbo
yeah.... not good news..... the reverse cowl hood was way too deep and if i used a flat strip of styrene(and i tried it) it was still hitting the top on the b19 so it would diffenitely raise the hood with the k20 so i changed it to a regular cowl hood not extremely happy :x but the wife says it looks good but idk heres some pics

once the glue dries i'm going to trim the excess off and putty it to look better, and post pics also
rims with body kit

yea i know i still have a ton more sanding to do
a little better

still have to sand the wheel arches though but that will be done tomorrow
i think with the hood i might add two small strips on each side of the raise part in the middle.... i'll also get that done tomorrow and i'll post pics too

wheel wells are done btw the front wheels are not going to be this high like the passenger side but more like the drivers
side

close up of the doors

heres the hood almost done just a little putty and sanding and will be good on this one

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

On first seeing this thread I was a bit dubious how your bodykit would turn out. But after seeing it with putty I must say it looks a hell of a lot better and it's nice to see it take shape. Must weigh quite a bit!

Try to keep the panel lines scribed so they don't disappear under the putty and scribe new ones where the front bumper section, doors etc would be. I'm interested to see how this progresses. Keep it up!

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

surprisingly it doesnt weigh all that much more than when i started just alittle bit more... sorry i haven't updated in a while but heres some more progress for you all
with the front clip/spoiler

the reason why the rubberbands (just cause i know someone will wonder WTF???) is i cut it out and was letting the glue dry to shape it when i took the pics

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

has anyone heard of/ or used

it's supposed to help make a smooth finish at least that what i got out of the description on the back after reading it twice :-? after you sand it with fine grit sandpaper

trimmed out the light holes a bit just so they would fit flush in there

the rear diffuser painted flat black pre carbon fiber

body with the rear diffuser

i've got the body sanded down with fine grit paper and it looks pretty good..... so +1 for the sanding sealer but while i was sanding i was looking at the car and thought the panel lines on the door were faded just a little too much so i said f* it and decide to cut the doors out

Re: 1/24 acura ITR widebody with turbo'd k20

Hi,

lots of work you put into this model.

Nevertheless, f.e. there is no symmetry, what you model on one side of the body you did on the other side in a different way. Under the orange colour you can see the traces from sanding paper etc. Nice idea with new springs, but who can see them later?

Maybe you should work in smaller steps and work cleaner.
