Bought a '05 Suburban, but should I be worried?
Bought a '05 Sub with a 5.3 in it. Seems to run fine with close to 47,500 miles on it. Appears to be average miles to me, but the information center shows 2094 engine hrs. If I'm doing my math right that would be about 22.5 miles per hour average. My thought is that it either idled alot or spend a far amount of time in the city. Should I be concerned for any reason? Anything special I should keep a eye on? I would think that with this type of milage I would expect around 1200 hrs.

Re: Bought a '05 Suburban, but should I be worried?
As long as it was properly maintained I wouldn't worry about it. Check the transmission fluid, if it's dark and/or smells burnt have it flushed, lots of stop and go is hard on the trans fluid. Don't just drain the pan and refill it, that's the worst thing you can do for an automatic. The new trans fluid cleans any deposits out, and then it just drops them all in the pan which plugs the filter and can reduce the pressure if it gets plugged enough. Don't do a "forced flush" or a "reverse flush", both of these methods are worse than the drain&fill.

Fluid looked good as that was one of my first thoughts also. Planning on doing a change around 50,000

the only problem with these vehicles would be a large fuel demand...keep the fuel tank above the 1/4 tank mark because you never want to drop that 36 gallon tank...should the fuel pump fail because of running on a low level of fuel.. |
