Program old keyfob 2006 Montana SV6???

I have a 2006 Montana SV6. The original keyfob that came with the car doesn't work. We were having problems with the original keyfob with the contacts to the battery not staying connected. I soldered them a few times but it kept on loosing its connection. We finally bought a new one and had the dealer program it to work with the car. Now I felt like trying to get the old one to work again. I know it's working because when following the traces with a multimeter, I get voltage at all the contacts where the buttons push on. But the keyfob doesn't work with the car anymore. Reading the web a little, it appears that if I didn't give the dealer this remote when he was programing our new one, this one won't work anymore. Is this true?

I've been seeing all these posts on how to program a keyfob without the tech 2 tool by removing a BCM PRGRM fuse and using the lock/unlock buttons. I looked all over for this fuse and the car doesn't have it. I tried a few other tricks on the web of just pushing the lock and unlock together for 10 seconds by the car and it's supposed to program it to the car but that didn't work either (thank god because that would be a terrible security breach of the car if anyone could do that.)

But I'd rather not have to pay to have this done at the dealer. Are there any tricks anyone has figured out? The last one they did for free for me. I doubt they'll do this one for free too.
