I have a dodge ram that has been making noise this year..
It sounds like a wheel bearing but It is weird how the noise goes away when I take my foot off the gas. I can roll down the hill and the noise seems to go away. when I put the dodge ram in gear I hear the noise. I can hear the driveshaft is howling loudly in the back when I put my ear against the floor while rolling. |

Re: 96 dodge ram making noise from front of tranmission , maybe wheel bearings
To check for a bad wheel bearing, turn it to the left: bad right wheel bearing, turn it it to the right: bad left front wheel bearing.Do this while driving it.It could be in the rear end,bad carrier bearings.Check all of the u joints the u joints also.If rust comes out,the u joint is no good.

ok when I turn the wheel to the right and to the left again.
what am i supposed to be looking for as I do this? Noise? The noise seems to be coming from the driveshaft or carrier differential when I am sitting in the back. When I accerelate the noise gets louder. when i put it in nuetral the noise gets softer |
