Small Problem with A/C

I still have air conditioning in my car, so it's not that big of a deal. Hot and cold is great, but it only blows up top where the defrost comes out and down below by my feet. I couldn't find much at all on it in my Haynes manual and Autozone, but had to ask at the parts shop. They told me to check two things, since it is not the compressor, it is either a switch that redirects the air or some type of flapper valve that may be stuck or broken. So I don't have to tear apart half of my dashboard, is there some type of direction that someone can give me to check these things?Pictures or directions would be great, but I will take anything. Thanks for any input.......

Look underhood at your vacuum reservoir- the box bolted to the firewall between relay center and the brake booster-- see if the black plastic vacuum line is plugged in- and then trace it either direction- look for cracks, breaks, heat damage to this line-- 98% of the time this is where the problem is.

Well, I looked, and I don't feel that there is a crack or any leak. I had the A/C on full blast and didn't feel anything at all. Is there something I can check next, since I have ruled this problem out????

You didn't say whether the line is plugged into the black box. That is almost always the problem. (Pull it off and put if back on and see if the connection is snug--if not replace the line with a line that fits snug.)

if you look under the dash just above the center hump the vacume can that cotrols that function is there u may have to pull your kick panel off to see it make sure that it is working you did not say if you had duel zone climate control

Well, I have done this and finally after ripping some hair out to look for what you mentioned, I took it to the shop. They were telling me that it is my Blend Door Actuator. There is no vacuum connection on my car, and it's all electrical that controls this issue. I don't see anything remotely similar in the Haynes manual and that he had no schematics of the area or the part for that matter. Is there anyone that knows what it looks like or has some idea of where to get the schematics for this so I can replace it??? I at least know that it is inside the car, somewhere either in the middle or under the glove box area........Thanks for any input!

The actuator is mounted on the top of the heater core box and held on by three screws. It is not easy to replace, but it would be much easier if you are a contortionist. See pics for some more detail. We have other threads on this subject also, do a search for more info.

it is real easy to get to remove the wood grain trim by pulling it straight out start at the pass side it ez er then remove the glove box it a few screws it will be on top i have a 92 lasabrer and had to do it got my part from a scrap yard 10 $ good luck
