98 S-10 Rough Idle

I have a 98 S-10 with a rough idle but apparently no trouble codes. I changed the plugs and wires but nothing changed. I am getting "bit" near the distributor cap...would this be a bad cap or cheap wires (got mid-grade)?

What engine do you have? Could be plugs, use AC Delco ONLY. Could be low quality wires, use AC Delco or Autolite Professional Series wires. Could be distributor cap & rotor, use AC Delco.

with the large amount of problems with these spark plug wires I would install the delphi brand...when wires are replaced it is wise to replace cap and rotor at this time...use some dielectric grease on all the plug wire connectors,,,this will keep the wires working a long time..

with time all wires increase in resistance ..then they start to arc ...

I changed the cap and rotor, and put dielectric on. Much better now. Thanks for the responses!

Make sure you put dielectric on all terminals, inside and out, of the distributor cap. The dielectric on the inside will crystalize, that's normal, don't scrape it off, it's supposed to be there.

just recently on a 94 v6 s10 the wind/washer hose blew off and sprayed the cap/coil area...this required the wires/cap /rotor to be replaced...
