Question Truck problem

I'm new to AF so please bear with me.

My '95 Chevy has suddenly lost it's passing acceleration.
Engine revs normally but the pickup seems to have picked up and left. Fuel consumtion doesn't seem to have increased much, if any. It's a carbueted (2 bbl Rochester) 5.0L 2500 Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this at home? I've checked air flow & changed plugs & wires (hey had started ticking) but I'm not sure of my next step?

Any ideas?

Re: Truck problem

Have you changed your fuel filter lately? on the chassis and the carb inlet.
Are there any codes?
Check engine light?
How many miles on truck?
Auto or stick? any slippage?
Hard starting?
Any difference when hot or cold. (engine wise)

Re: Truck problem

Starts like a dream, runs well hot or cold, automatic transmission, no slippage, 175,000 miles but uses no oil. Have'nt tried fuel filter but I will. Service engine lite comes on and off without an apparent pattern. Thanks for the response.

Re: Truck problem

While you're at the parts store buying the fuel filters. Ask the parts guys if they could retrieve the codes for you. Most places will do it for free because they love to sell parts.
Give it a shot!
