95 3.1 gasket kit

95 3.1 135+

I need to order a head/intake gasket kit and my Carquest contact needs to know whether or not the engine has pushrods with or without rockers. I'm no expert obviously. He says that I need to take off the valve covers to be able to tell. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Re: 95 3.1 gasket kit

Usually the question is "with or without pushrod guides"

I've always obtained the set WITH the pushrod guides.

You can get by with the ones WITHOUT the guides, but having the pushrod guides makes assembly much easier.

If you plan on keeping the vehicle, get the PREMIUM set that has the lower intake gaskets made of steel, instead of plastic. Although, the plastic ones will hold up well anyways. (much better than the origional fiber ones)

3100 engines up to and including 1995 are of the "flat-tappet" design, whereas the 1996 and later utilize "roller tappet and rocker" design.

Thanks for the quick response Dave. On the Carquest site they offer both with or without kits. I'm told that the switch was made mid-production.
