Anyone have pics of where you converted your hood supports to pins?

I'm assuming with the new horsepower under the hood the hood iteslf will be really flopping at speed. I remember people talking about converting 2 of the hood supports to hold-downs. Anyone have pics of the specifics to help me out?

Thanks,
Brian

100% effective; it completely eliminated any lift. This hood didn't have the rear lip (in front of the windshield) either. That made it really floppy before adding the pins. My new hood has the lip and it is much more stable even though I haven't gotten around to adding the pins yet.

Uwe,

Did you make/install the metal that extends like a fenderwell to keep water from hitting the exhaust off the front wheels?

No, the group of 6 RA cars that were for sale when I bought mine all had them. In the other thread, others stated they had them too. The steam still blasts in when they get wet in rain, so I really don't know if they help by some amount over the cars without them.

Brian, I just mounted mine to the stanchions already there. Drill out the rivets to remove the dzus screw thingy and drill the hole a little bigger for the pin. These work great and I have no worries about the hood.

I think you have to actually drive fast to be worried about the hood....

Shhh. I'm not ready to unveil the Panoz/Atom just yet. Plastic is for pussies.

Thanks guys... I wasn't sure which supports people were converting... now I know it's the outer rear ones.

Check out Goldberg's picture... he pins the forward hood supports. Looks like a few different methods work.

Re: Anyone have pics of where you converted your hood supports to pins?

Dual purpose....holds the hood down.....

doesnt require fabrication....

Gives you a removeable light bar with as many lights as you want without additional modifications......

Re: Anyone have pics of where you converted your hood supports to pins?

I've decided to use Kel's method and convert the center hood supports into hold-downs (the same one's Brian has used). I'm going to weld a cut down hood pin onto the end of the current bumper/adjuster. This way the rubber support will still be in place to prevent the hood from moving down and the hood pin will be able to prevent to from coming up, effectively sandwhiching the hood. I'm going to leave the rear supports alone and leave the rear screw fasteners alone becuase I've never had them come loose at all.

I'll take some pics of what I come up with for reference. I'm also going to drill some holes with my circle saw blades in the side vent. I'll do a full cutout when I get time to fab up a nice screen/support.
