92 rs camaro v8 305 barely running?? Help

My 92 RS has numerous problems. Its a 305 V8 fuel injected and has no power. It barely makes it up a hill I have to shift into low otherwise all it does is sputter. Last night it started overheating and died. Radiator was full. It started but running rough and very rich. Now it dies every time I stop. Also the SES light came on and stays on. I dont know what info you need to know about the car to get an idea of what could be going on so let me know and I will respond. Thanks for your patience in advance.

Re: 92 rs camaro v8 305 barely running?? Help

first off you need to pull the code if the SES light is on. Do you know how to do this?

but, judging from what you describe, you have some of the common problems occurring. Overheating could be that the cooling fan isn't turning on. Usually caused by the sensor that is in the side of the cylinder head, has a single green or white wire. The running rough and rich could be the coolant temperature sensor which is located on the intake manifold near the water neck. has a 2 wire connection.

Those things may not solve your issue, it could be something else. you have to check some things out. you need to make sure you didn't blow a head gasket, because that could also cause these problems. check both the oil and radiator fluid and make sure the 2 aren't mixing together. Also check for white sweet smelling exhaust.
