Question '96 Check engine light no no power to code reader

Today my check engine light came on. Since it's a '96 it is OBD2 compliant, so I hooked up my OBD2 scanner to the port to read the code and nothing. There is no power to the scanner, no lights come on, nothing. I know the scanner works since I checked with another vehicle.

The car seems to run fine except that the CEL is on.

Any idea what might be wrong and what to try to diagnose the problem?

Re: '96 Check engine light no no power to code reader

I figured it out.....
It turns out that the OBD2 circuit shares power from the interior dome light circuit. The dome light ciruit had blown the 7.5 A fuse. Put in a new fuse, code reader now works....that one had me worried.
