Engine light flash engine grinds

I have a Golf GTi 2.0 ltr 2002
The problem is the engine light flashes usually for a few hundered miles and the engine grinds. It takes ages to accelerate and on the motor way sometimes will not go over 60 mph.

Then other times its stops flashing and driver like a new car for another few hundred miles.!!!

I would love it to work. Is it a serious problem that is a major cost?

Thanks Olls

Re: Engine light flash engine grinds

I'll assume your car is an automatic. IMO your transmission torque converter lock up clutch is giving you this problem. See your dealer asap!

Read your owner's manual. FYI, a flashing engine light means stop fucking driving your car and take your car to the dealer . If your car was overheating you would not continue to drive it would you?
Well I hope not.

Re: Engine light flash engine grinds

Okay, well the first step to finding out what is wrong with your car when you have a flashing engine light is to scan the car with an OBD reader. This will give you codes that will help us diagnose it. Without these codes it will be nearly impossible to say what is going wrong with your car, and you will start to throw parts at it without knowing what is wrong. Which is foolish.

Find out what codes you have and post them here.
