Storage

Duty calls, have to store my 2004 Grand Marquis for abt. four months. Nothing in the manual about storing your vehicle. Any thoughts on this issue, like what happens if you disconnect the battery???
Thanks

Re: Storage

When I store a vehicle for any length of time, I change the oil and filter,(one of the most important things to do). I also check the level of coolant and make sure it is at the proper level. As for the battery, you can do it either way,(leaving it connected or disconnected.) It would be a good idea however if you leave it connected to make sure it is fully charged. (I usually remove the battery, making sure it's fully charged and store it in a safe spot.)
If there is a problem with rodents where you plan on storing your vehicle, you might want to consider some pre-empted means to avoid them getting into the vehicle and causing damage. Also take into consideration humidity levels and take precautions to prevent a buildup of moisture inside the car.
Also check the level of air in the tires and add the required amount to put the level within the required range. At this time it might be a good idea to add some fuel stabilizer to the gas tank as well.
Some people I know also wash and wax their vehicles before putting them into storage so the paint and finish are clean and protected.

Re: Storage

Good information, just wondered if I removed the battery if when re installed will the car run correctly? No memory loss....... Not sure if a battery tender would keep up with the demand, clocks, alarms etc..
Thanks
