Special Edition, mod or not?

Hey all, I currently own 2 Grand Prix's...one is a 2001 GT (black, 4dr), the other is a 1998 Daytona 500 Special Edition (medium gulf blue, 2dr)

My question is, I would really like to mod my car (currently driving the GT, which isn't really worth modding) I'm tempted to just take out the few cosmetic mods I've done to it, and sell it and drive the 1998 GTP. My problem is, I'm terribly restless when it comes to the idea of modding my car, but my dad says not to mod the Special Edition one because it's worth more as stock.

I don't wanna be one of those guys with 'all show/no go' but can't decide whether or not to mod the special edition one...

I'd like to know what you all think, will performance mods increase the value of the 1998 Sp. Ed. or not?

Re: Special Edition, mod or not?

All mods will only increase value to those interested and willing to pay more for them regardless of the car.

I would be very carefull to monitor KR if you mod. Not worth the motor..... (you know)

You could do a few subtle mods that appear un noticable, but give you more oomf like a pcm and a smaller pulley.

I really like my setup now. The car has good power, great throttle response throughout the power band, has beat a 4th gen camaro V8 off the line, my mods appear un-noticable, and all but the downpipe are reversable.

Your decision, your car... If you need help, you know where to find us.

Re: Special Edition, mod or not?

depending on the miles on the daytona, and shape that the car is in. dunno how much the cars are really worth...but i might just keep it stock.

I'm keeping my GTX pretty close to stock because of how much it may be worth...

you can mod your GT just as well as you can the daytona. get a complete turbo kit from somethin like ZZP for like $1500 or so

or they sell a M90 install kit on ZZP for $200, then you just need to find a M90 supercharger...and there you go.

Re: Special Edition, mod or not?

the daytona is sitting at 99k atm, not terrible for a 1998 model year hehe, main reason I'm tempted to mod it instead of my GT is because to add power to a GT, theres way more to upgrade than just the motor, but with a stock GTP, they've already been manufactured to handle more power (granted, if I add an extreme amount of power, I'd still have to upgrade alot even on the GTP) I guess it's all a matter of choice...

and you say $1500 for a turbo kit? thats not too bad, lowest I've seen is $3K...

Thanks for the input guys, anything else to add will be taken into consideration
