Hooray... GTRA/GTWC/GTS all approved for NASA ST/SU racing!
http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic....26396&p=200171
Good thing we only wanted 300-320 rwhp out of our GTRA. If you plug in all of the correction factors we're right at 8.92 lbs/horsepower and the ST2 min is 8.7 lbs/horse. Anything lower and you're in ST1 w/ the big dogs. One question... some of you guys might know this. It asks for "min. Competition Wt. (w/ driver)". Is this w/ the car out of gas at the end of a race? Or full up before the race? I figured our car is 2550 w/o fuel (it was 2571 w/ 7 gallons) and we made 307 rwhp. I am 250 lbs. So 2800/307 = 9.12. Then we can add .4 becuas our tires are 275s, but we have to subtract .4 because of our light weight. Then we have to subtract an additional .2 for the modification factor associated with the car which puts us at 8.92 lbs/power adjusted. I can take out the passenger seat setup and get a lexan windshield to get us right on the edge... pretty cool. I'm going to do comp school this year most likely and run some ST2 next season. |

Bring that bad boy to R A on the last Friday of this month for a track day and come back on 6/12 thru 6/14 for the NASA event. I will be there with my WS car.

min. Competition Wt. (w/ driver) is the weight you will be when they drive you directly to the scales AFTER the race. They watch you and NOBODY touches the car. You dont even exit the vehicle until you cross the scales.

Brian... how do you guestimate this? I guess you only want as much fuel as you need for a 30 minute sprint race. I guess you want to error on the high side then.
My car w/ 7 gallons was 2571 + 250 for me = 2821. With everything I'm right below 9lbs per horse so I'm good to go for ST2 and TTS. |

Re: Hooray... GTRA/GTWC/GTS all approved for NASA ST/SU racing!
we calculate our fuel burn after each session and cut it as close as we feel comfortable. The biggest issue is the dyno. they check your car on the dyno at nationals. The dyno last year was 40 rwhp lower than our local one at steeda. If it was the other direction I would have been DQ'ed. I dont trust dynos since I have run on 4 diff. ones and they come up with 4 diff. answers. not even close. So, you are completely guessing always....FUN RIGHT????
