Wheel bearings

Can anyone tell me what the warning signs are of a wheel bearing going bad. My traction light comes on in when I turn slow to the left, but don't know if this has anything to do with it.

Re: Wheel bearings

check for codes... maybe its the abs sensor wire that's being stretched out or something when you turned that direction

Re: Wheel bearings

Bad bearings will make ABS and Trac lights come on (I guess it would actually be the sensor but bearing and sensor are 1 unit). Make sure your front tires match in diameter.

Re: Wheel bearings

It could be a wiring problem. I would check the speed sensor wiring on the left speed sensor. It is possible that might be a problem with the wiring.

Re: Wheel bearings

Could be many things making just the trac light flash or come on. If the wires are good, then Id get it scanned with an ABS capable scan tool.

Re: Wheel bearings

I've changed both my hubs around 80k, you'll start hearing a grinding noise, sound like your brakes, except that It will get louder in the corners, If you are hearing a noise, and it gets louder in a left turn and goes away in a right turn then your right hub bearings are bad, and vise-verse.

A bad bearing WONT make your ICP lights come on or throw any DTC's, unless both the speed sensor and bearing is bad. It'll just make a lot of grinding noise when the car's moving.
