Thinking of buying a 2000 626

This is for my son, and it is a cheap beater car with 122K on it. I know it needs a cv joint, and the door has a rust hole (is this normal), anything else I should be on the lookout for? I'm wondering about reliability. Transmission issues? Will I regret this purchase? Thanks for your input. Dave

Re: Thinking of buying a 2000 626

well.. I had gone through couple in the past, and I still have one 98 626..v-6 automatic. the 4-cyl. models tends to have a lot of tranny problems,.. as you can see in the forum.. 6 cyl. have much better reliability out of the two. if it's a stick shift, it's a different story.. cause I'm only talking about automatic trannies.. over all I think they are quite nice cars.. gas, comfort level, driving experiences,,etc,,etc,, easy regular maintenance,.. that's my opinion,.. after going through couple.. and I still bought one, cause I missed it. bought me a v-6 automatic.. I'm quite satisfied with it... good luck..
