Quick complete: 1969 Nova from Revell

As a break from the RV project that I'm working on (close to being done, pics coming soon) I grabbed the new Revell 1969 Nova and built it basically box stock. I did use the headers and routed them to the stock exhaust and I flocked the package shelf, but otherwise it was straight out of the box. This was a really nice kit, and maybe someday when I have the drive and time, I'll build one up super detailed, but for now it's nice to have one done.

The red Nova in the background of the couple of shots is the AMT kit that I built back sometime in the late 80's.

Re: Quick complete: 1969 Nova from Revell

I'm just finishing up a '70 Chevelle in the same color! Do you ever go over to BMC? I'd like to see the R/V. I was going to focus my time on a project I've wanted to do for a long time - a 1937 Ford Panel Delivery truck that looks just like the one from the Cagney movie "Angels With Dirty Faces." It's a big project - has to have radio equipment in the back w/ opening doors and some large megaphone type devices on top for early speakers. *G*

Re: Quick complete: 1969 Nova from Revell

MC,

Well, the RV will be featured, soon enough. I've been working on it since 2002, and what I plan to do is when it's done post all the in-progress, then the finished pics. I know what you mean about having to make all the equipment, the RV is 90% scratchbuilt. It's taken so long to finish that the paint has faded on some parts while I was trying to get others done.

Very cool, I love Novas also and plan on doing mine one of these days, right now I am at the worst phase in modelling, (not knowing what to build next) I have a million ideas but can't come up with one decisive plan!

Re: Quick complete: 1969 Nova from Revell

Thanks for the good words all. My first car was a '72 with a 250 six in it. I dogged the daylights out of that thing and it kept coming back for more.

If you don't know where you want to start building, just start. grab something and throw it together. I built this because I love the Nova and did it simple because I'm needing breaks from the RV quite often.

Think it, get it, BUILD it!

I put that six through hell and back, and it just kept swinging, so I kept it.
They have nice low compression and can take up to 12 PSI on stock internals so I am going to drop a 4bbl on and turbocharge it.

That is SUCH a clean build, and really makes me look forward to cracking open the new RM kit one of these days. Very nice.
