Front-end noise after service done

Hello,

I was parking my 99 Grand Am Se 6cyl when the drivers side spring snapped.
I've replaced the springs and the top strut mount on both sides.
The tie rod ends were bad also, so I've replaced them also.
Now every time I go over a bump or a curb, anything that makes the front go up and down I hear a clunking noise coming from the passenger's side. I've taken the car back to the garage that did the service and they can't find anything wrong even though the noise is there.
The noise comes from the top, not from the bottom like a bad bushing or something.

Please suggestions, could it be the strut itself?

Have the shop check for play between the nut that holds the strut together and the m ounting plate, the part that bolts to the strut tower. Some of these had an updated mounting plate which required a n updated nut that had a significant collar on it to take op the slack. The nut in the box that came with the new struts is nut a direct replacement. Its pretty easy to spot. Set the car up on the hoist. Watch the nuts as you raise it up. If they sink into the mount a lot you just found the problem!

I think the strut could be the problem. Though Id think the shop would have noticed it, or the nut, was bad and then should have suggested replacing them.

Were the bearing plates also replaced?

Also if the springs are not seated into the top plate they can make some popping sounds.

Heres the thing about the nuts. If you didn't know you wouldn't even think about it. There are deffinetely different from the ones that come in the box. I ran into this the other day. One mount/bearing had been replaced and had the updated nut, the other side was not. Had I not known about the difference I might not of thought twice about not reusing the old nut. I know that if I had it would have made a clunk noise over bumps!

Yeah Im aware of the differences in these components and thier differances between brands.

If these parts were replaced in pairs, both sides at the same time, probly wouldn't have had any problems.
As they are supposed to be replaced in pairs, like brake pads, rotors, drums, and even wheel bearings.
