05 Z-71 owner with 3 questions (problems)

I'll be brief-

1- CD player on the Bose factory radio took a crap. Suggestions on a new one (ebay junkyard or any other websites)?

2- Annoying red service airbag dashlight is now on 24-7. Can this code be cleared at Autozone or anywhere else for low $$.

3- Lower door molding on only the driver side front door is fading to a weird yellow color (all the others on my silver birch color are good. WTF causes this and can it be fixed.

Thanks in advance

the cd player may need a laser lens cleaning.....if you operate with the windows open and smoke and off road etc it is most likely your problem....

the air bag light is something the dealer must handle and be documented ,,,this is to protect you.... keep all paper work with the dealer work done on this issue....

door mouldings can be damaged by sunlight and rain ....

if this is a vinyl solid color you can buy color dye to match your color and brush on to make it look new again...

I did a dash on my 96 impala...a very large dash and by using the proper technic it is still like new 3 years now...

also leather seat color damage can be repaired this way as well..

leather technologies in roanoke , VA

the radio cd could be replaced crutchfield has a good catalog to review and get ideas on what you prefer...

with the usb input the cd is a thing of the past....you could put many a cd on a large usb memory module and no mechanical problems...

if you get a new unit always get the interface connector to install the new radio......never hack up the vehicle wiring....

you may not be able to actually replace your radio with an aftermarket type IF it is part of the vehicle on board system....

Plus the factory radio has to be programed with the Tech 2 and this started in 2001.The old way will not work on 2001 and up GM radios. The radio does not bolt in,you push down on two clips and it comes out that way.You cannot get the codes read at AutoZone for the airbag. The Tech 2 or any scan tool will read them.

Your vehicle will require a scan tool for the proper diagnosis, but here's a site that will explain everything you need to know about airbag lights and resetting the system.
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/

This website gives you the procedure for diagnosing and resetting airbag lights. See if your car is listed here. Although it’s a pay site ($14.95/day), it’s a lot cheaper than going to the dealer
http://www.airbagsolutions.com/vehicles_list.aspx

On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident.
The flashing light on your car is telling there is a problem. On some vehicles, the light is flashing a two digit code. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing.
Airbagsolutions.com has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong and how to fix it!

Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) .
Most all other vehicles require a scan tool for the diagnosis.

Check out these websites also for more info on airbag systems and the light.

Lastly, check your vehicle for recalls through this link also:
